About Rob
Rob helps busy families save more and argue less so that they can confidently accelerate toward their financial goals while maintaining the lifestyle they love. Through a collaborative process, he helps clients design a simple and flexible budgeting system while providing the support and accountability they need to make this happen.
Rob partners with clients who are trying to build their wealth while raising a family, those who are close to retirement and want to get clear on if they can do it with confidence, and those going through significant life transitions. Rob loves seeing both the financial improvement and the relationship transformation that comes from working together through the Family Budget Services process. He enjoys seeing clients have those “Aha!” moments when they realize that they can keep spending on what they enjoy and still reduce their expenses.
Prior to joining Buckingham in 2024, Rob founded a family budgeting services firm, Family Budget Expert, in 2015 with a mission to help clients save more, argue less and keep having fun. He’s worked with hundreds of clients over the eight years since its founding. Rob was also a senior consultant and lead trainer at Student Loan Planner, where he advised 1,200 clients on managing over $300 million in student loan debt. Before that, Rob was a partner at Eidelman Virant Capital for over 10 years where he held roles as research analyst, co-portfolio manager, head of sales & client service, and chief compliance officer. Rob graduated from the University of Michigan in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in organizational studies with a minor in mathematics. He has also obtained his Chartered Financial Analyst® designation, and he is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and a Certified Student Loan Professional.
Rob grew up in Canton, Ohio, as the youngest of four children and has lived in New York, Chicago and Las Vegas before settling in St. Louis with his wife, Anna, and three kids. Rob loves being involved in the community, and he currently serves on the Clayton Sports, Recreation, and Wellness Commission. His past roles include president of University City Children’s Center, member of the Philanthropic Institute for Professional Advisors’ class of 2023, and board member of the Jewish Federation of St. Louis. He enjoys playing pickup basketball, surfing, singing a cappella music, playing jazz piano and coaching his daughter’s basketball team.
