Buckingham Co-Founder Stuart Zimmerman Being Honored By American Jewish Committee

Buckingham co-founder and wealth advisor Stuart Zimmerman and his family are being awarded the twenty-third annual Netzach Award from the St. Louis chapter of the American Jewish Committee (AJC), a global Jewish advocacy group. The award is given to a family that exemplifies a commitment to social justice, civic duty and education from generation to generation. “We are honored to bestow the Netzach Award on the Zimmerman family,” says AJC St. Louis director Nancy Lisker. “The award was established in 1991, to honor those families in the Jewish community whose lives and actions exemplify the values of study, justice and benevolence--the very foundations of Jewish peoplehood and continuity. The Netzach nominating committee chose the Zimmerman family in recognition of their passionate leadership and commitment to Tikkun Olam, repairing the world, enriching the Jewish community and the community at large.” Stuart co-founded Buckingham 20 years ago on the idea that by doing the right thing for the client—putting ethics ahead of the bottom line and building clients’ trust, not just their portfolio—word would spread and success would follow. Two decades later, the firm acts in the best interests of more than 2,000 clients and, together with its sister firm, BAM Advisor Services, manages or administers more than $23 billion in assets. Stuart and his wife Susie set an example of faith, volunteerism and community service to their two sons, Andrew and Jake, from the beginning. Since their wedding in 1967, the couple has served community organizations of all sizes and missions in roles both large and small. Stuart has served as president of AJC’s St. Louis chapter, Clayton Chamber of Commerce, Craft Alliance and the Clayton Childcare Center. He currently serves on various committees of the AJC and the Jewish Federation of St. Louis. Susie was at the forefront of the St. Louis NOW chapter, advanced egalitarian rights a B’nai Amoona and chaired its educational board. She was a member of Jewish Hospitals’ women’s Auxiliary board and chair of the Jewish Federation’s partnership with St. Louis’ sister-city region in Israel. She also serves on the editorial board of the Jewish Light weekly. Their sons have followed in their parents civic-minded footsteps. Jake and his wife Megan live in St. Louis, where they are involved in several charitable organizations and where Jake served as Assistant Attorney General as well as Deputy Chief Legal Counsel for Governor Bob Holden. He was elected to three terms as State Representative and elected St. Louis County Assessor in 2011. Andrew and his wife Marya live in Seattle and are involved in many local community service and not-for-profit organizations.
