About Al
As a wealth advisor, Al specializes in providing coordinated financial planning to clients who own businesses or have other complex needs.
Al was motivated to become a financial advisor out of a desire for a more comprehensive and flexible approach to support people in achieving their financial dreams. Prior to joining Buckingham Strategic Wealth in 2023, Al served as senior financial planner for Davis Financial Planning in Asheville, North Carolina, a firm he founded in 2010. Before that, he’d spent his career in banking as a business banker, private banking manager and bank regional director.
Al graduated from Appalachian State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and he holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee. He is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, as well as an Enrolled Agent, a designation provided by the IRS. He has served as President of the Alliance of Comprehensive Planners and as President of the Land of Sky Estate Planning Council.
Based in Asheville, Al enjoys hiking, traveling, reading and spending time with his family. He has been active in the Asheville community for many years, serving on the boards of Asheville Community Theater, UNC Asheville Foundation, and Asheville Parks and Greenways Foundation. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Asheville and a long-time supporter and volunteer with the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of WNC.
