About Barbara

As a wealth advisor, Barbara works with clients to craft a financial plan that aligns with their values and passions. She strives to inspire clients to pursue the life they’ve always dreamed of living. In doing so, she focuses on educating them about their financial resources and how to invest for success. She loves serving as a sounding board for ideas, an empathetic listener when clients have concerns or are faced with challenges, and a collaborator when they need reassurance.

Barbara was drawn to providing financial guidance while in college when the industry was just starting to grow. She imagined a career where she could help people be intentional about their financial decisions, and that seemed like an incredible calling. She enjoys calming her clients’ fears, showing them the path forward, and walking alongside them throughout their life journey. Her goal is to make a difference in her clients’ lives, and she appreciates the trust she builds with them through the ups and downs of life, as well as the markets.

Although Barbara has held many roles throughout her career, she enjoys advising clients the most. Before joining Buckingham in 2017, she worked at a variety of firms throughout the eastern U.S. She has also served as a business owner, director of planning, and an adjunct professor. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State University in 1987 and a master’s in financial services from the College for Financial Planning in 2000. Today, she is actively engaged in the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, serving on the professional development committee and as chair of the fall conference.

As an Air Force brat and later an Air Force spouse, Barbara has lived all over the country, though she has lived in the Mid-Atlantic region since 1999. In her spare time, she enjoys jogging, hiking and biking with her husband, Karl, and their dog, Sarge, a rescue and foster fail. They moved to the mountains of North Carolina in 2022, to help care for her mother. She splits her time between Virginia and North Carolina
