About Carmen
As a wealth advisor, Carmen sees it as her duty to look after the financial well-being of each of her clients, helping them live their lives with financial peace of mind. Carmen was trained as a lawyer to solve problems and search out resources when she didn’t have the answers. She finds her background highly useful when collaborating with clients’ own legal advisors. She loves being her clients’ go-to source for guidance in financial matters as it gives her an amazing sense of professional purpose. Carmen also thrives in working within the rule-based systems of the financial industry. She gives objective guidance to all clients, helping them grow and protect assets. She works in all six areas in which a CFP® professional is called upon. Securing clients’ trust and respect is her ultimate reward.
Carmen served as a partner and senior wealth advisor at Confluence Wealth Management before the firm joined Buckingham Strategic Wealth in 2020. She practiced law for 10 years before moving to the financial industry in 2010. Carmen received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Brigham Young University-Hawaii and a law degree from the University of Hawaii. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM certificant.
Outside of the office, Carmen serves as board president for the Portland Japanese Garden Foundation and the acting board president and secretary for the All Chinese Heritage Integrity Empowerment Fund (ACHIEF). She also volunteers on the City of Portland’s Chinatown redevelopment Stakeholders Advisory Group.
Born in Hong Kong, Carmen moved to the U.S. at 17 and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2001. She and her husband live in Portland with their Maltese-Shih Tzu, Daisy Mei. Carmen is passionate about tennis. In her spare time, she enjoys building projects. She speaks and reads Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) and is continuing her studies in Spanish. Carmen and her husband love to travel and have visited over 30 countries.
