About Jason

As a life-long learner and educator, Jason is passionate about helping people discover and act on what is most important to them. His experiences and personality enable him to view wealth management with the eye of an engineer, along with an extensive background in asking, “Why is this so?” and “How can we make it better?”

Jason took a less traditional path to becoming a financial planner. Before joining the industry, Jason spent a decade of his career as a fishery scientist and natural resources consultant for a globally recognized river engineering firm based in Hood River, Oregon. After transitioning to financial planning in 2005, Jason became a financial advisor as a registered representative for a regional broker-dealer. He merged businesses with Robert Hausman in 2008, at which point he formed Hausman Advisors and assumed management of the combined firm. In 2023, Hausman Advisors merged with Buckingham Strategic Wealth.

With his multifaceted background as a natural resource consultant and financial planner, Jason brings a powerful point of distinction to Buckingham. His professional background has allowed him to build strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills, which he uses to create personalized financial life plans for his clients. In addition, Jason holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional designation and is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA). He received a Master of Science in personal financial planning from Kansas State University, a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Idaho, a graduate certificate in financial therapy from Kansas State University, and an executive certificate in financial planning from the Pamplin School of Business, University of Portland.

When Jason isn’t working, you can find him with his wife, Karen, and their two children enjoying the many outdoor activities that the Columbia River Gorge offers. A fifth-generation Oregonian, Jason grew up in the Portland metro area and relocated to Hood River with his wife in 2001. They immediately fell in love with the vibrant culture, people and activities that characterize the region. It remains a perfect choice for them, as they can enjoy their small town while remaining close to Portland and nearby family.
