About Jay
As a wealth advisor, Jay Wirig enjoys getting to know his clients so he can understand their financial goals and then crafting a plan to help them achieve their aspirations. He loves the creative challenge of putting together holistic financial plans and seeing them come to fruition.
Jay’s wealth management career began while he was already providing accounting and tax services to his clients. He felt that he had more to offer to clients and, by developing comprehensive retirement strategies, he could even further help them realize a “work-optional” status.
With a career in finance that spans several decades, Jay started Buckingham Strategic Wealth’s Walnut Creek office in 2018. Along with experience as a wealth advisor, he has held roles as a tax specialist at Deloitte, Haskins & Sells and an accounting instructor in the Golden Gate University MBA program. Jay holds a master’s degree in accountancy from Brigham Young University.
Guiding others on the path to success is at the core of Jay’s life both in and out of the office. When not helping his clients discover the path to their financial goals, he helps young adults and teens discover the path to personal and professional success during treks and trips in the California mountains. Jay is also involved with Operation Smile, a nonprofit medical service providing cleft lip and palate repair surgeries to children around the world, and has served on several Operation Smile missions in Africa.
