About Kory
As an associate wealth advisor, Kory and his advisory team create comprehensive financial plans for clients with a variety of backgrounds. Kory takes pride in coaching clients to make well-informed financial decisions, allowing them to achieve their short- and long-term financial goals. He believes that the key to creating meaningful relationships with his clients is rooted in the ability to listen, understand and lead with empathy.
Before becoming a financial planner, Kory spent most of his career in the field of education, as both a coach and musical performer. Prior to joining Buckingham Strategic Wealth, Kory spent 11 years singing countertenor professionally in the Grammy award-winning vocal ensemble, Chanticleer, and held posts as assistant music director and education manager. The touring schedule afforded him the opportunity to visit 48 states and 22 countries. During his leisure time on tour, he became interested in financial planning, which sparked a passion for reading investment and estate planning literature and developing a strong understanding of financial planning concepts.
Kory's affinity for a cappella vocal music coupled with his desire to educate others led him to obtain a music education degree and a California teaching credential from Pepperdine University. He also holds a master’s degree in choral conducting from the University of Southern California.
Given Kory’s musical background, outside of work he continues to perform recreationally and serves as a vocal ensemble coach and clinician for singing groups and festivals around the country. He currently serves as Music Director for the Fog City Singers, a San Francisco-based chorus that sings a wide variety of vocal genres, including a heavy influence in barbershop music. In his spare time, Kory loves to host wine and poker nights with friends and family, and volunteers at the local animal shelter as a dog handler.
