About Lex
Lex Grecu sees his role as a wealth advisor like that of a teacher. As both of his parents were high school teachers, he developed an appreciation for education early in life, which has influenced his strategies for advising clients on making smart financial decisions. His specialty is creating diversified investment portfolios based on academic research, and he takes pride in developing a deep understanding of his clients’ needs and goals.
With over 30 years of experience in wealth management, Lex enjoys finding out what matters most to his clients and developing a financial plan based on their values. He recognizes the uncertainty involved in planning one’s financial future, having had to go through the process himself after his parents passed away while he was a college student. His main goal is to help his clients achieve peace of mind so they can focus on doing the things they enjoy most in life.
Prior to joining Buckingham Strategic Wealth in 2022, Lex managed over $180 million in client assets as the president of Grecu Capital Management Inc., which he founded in 2002. He also has experience working for large investment firms, including Merrill Lynch, Charles Schwab and PIMCO Funds.
Lex earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Arizona. He has completed his CFP® certification to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Seattle.
Originally from Michigan, today Lex lives in Bend, Oregon, with his wife, Karin, and two sons. Outside of work, he enjoys doing anything and everything in the great outdoors. He has competed in over 100 running, biking and triathlon races, and he has coached youth basketball for over 20 years. His favorite activity with his family is visiting national parks, and he unwinds by planning their next big adventure.
