About Mike
Many years ago, Mike Winterscheidt approached the “best” financial advisor he knew with his hard-earned nest egg. In less than a year, he had lost more than two-thirds of it. That experience, along with his desire to help others avoid similar feelings of helplessness and frustration while achieving true long-term financial security, led him to his present career in wealth management.
Today, he accompanies his clients on their own financial journeys, assisting them not only through the technical side of wealth planning, but also with the myriad business, family and life issues that are so inextricably linked to money. In short, Mike works with clients to get them where they want to go.
As a Wealth Advisor at Buckingham, Mike helps small business owners, professionals and families reach their financial goals through the creation and maintenance of holistic financial plans, specifically tailored to each client’s individual needs, that incorporate portfolio management, tax strategies, wealth transfer considerations, business consultation and retirement planning. Mike specializes in blending investment and risk management with income and estate tax planning strategies to provide a customized, total wealth management solution.
He joined Buckingham in 2017 through the merger with Denver-based WIN Wealth Management. Mike, who has more than 40 years of experience in the accounting and financial service industries, co-founded WIN Wealth Management in 2003 because he recognized a need among his tax clients for independent, non-commission-based financial advice based on an integrated and comprehensive wealth management process. During his time with WIN Wealth Management, he also served as a partner with Winterscheidt & Autterson, a Denver-area accounting firm.
Mike, a CPA, also has earned the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation. He also holds the Chartered Global Management Accountant designation. Mike earned bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and business administration from Saint Mary of the Plains College and a master’s degree in taxation from the University of Denver.
Mike and his wife, Vicky, have three adult children and one grandchild. They enjoy international and domestic travel, spending active time in the Colorado mountains, and getting together with family, whether that’s near or abroad.
