About Tim
Tim considers it an important calling to help people make smart financial decisions that positively affect their lives, and which may be felt across multiple generations. He knows that successful people are busy, and life can be complicated. Additionally, he understands that we are all human beings who may make decisions based on emotion, then justify those decisions with logic. Successful wealth management, then, involves helping to remove common pitfalls that can harm a family’s financial future.
Using a consultative approach, Tim gains a deep understanding of clients’ key challenges in assessing where he can execute the most value in the relationship. His years of experience and education have lent him the strong ability to balance technical knowledge with interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and influence positive decisions with the clients he serves across a range of disciplines, including financial life planning, investment management, retirement planning, and next-generation planning.
Tim is an advocate for his clients and the financial life plans they build together, which means helping them simplify their lives without sacrificing results by leveraging Buckingham’s team and strategic resources along the way. For him, an ideal outcome is when clients can confidently reallocate time and attention they spent on investing to family, hobbies, and enjoying life.
Tim began his career at Vanguard as a brokerage associate working with retired and recently separated executives in navigating their complex employee retirement benefits. He joined Loring Ward, a San Jose, California-based turnkey asset management platform, in 2008 and over the next decade held various roles of increasing responsibility – including senior advisor relations consultant, retirement plan consultant, divisional manager, and regional director, where he helped other advisors grow and optimize their practices. Loring Ward became part of Buckingham Strategic Partners, Buckingham Strategic Wealth’s sister company, in 2018 and Tim moved into his current role in 2019.
Tim earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona in 2006 and his certificate in personal financial planning from UC Santa Cruz in 2009. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.
Outside of work, Tim has in the past enjoyed volunteering his time and talent at Habitat for Humanity and the Ronald McDonald House.
He grew up in Malvern, Pennsylvania, and remains a Philadelphia sports fan, although he considers Avalon, New Jersey, where he spent summers as a kid his second hometown. He played ice hockey through his college years, which he says provided him an unbelievable number of life lessons and close relationships. Today, two of Tim’s favorite hobbies are golf and fitness.
Tim and his wife, Ashley, who he met in college, live in Danville, California. They have two daughters, Taryn and Presley, and a son, Weston, as well as a Goldendoodle named Sampson.
