In this episode of Buckingham Perspectives, Chief Investment Officer Kevin Grogan shares his outlook for interest rates in 2024. Since the Federal Reserve’s last meeting in December, markets have priced in rate cuts for this year, but there’s often a disconnect between what the Fed says and what markets expect. While there’s no doubt that macroeconomic forecasts are notoriously difficult, it is encouraging that the inflation data has improved enough recently to give the Fed room to start thinking about cutting rates this year. And though the market is expecting short-term rates to move lower this year, no one is expecting a quick return to the ultra-low short-term interest rates that we saw for most of the 2010s.
